Dr. Ghonim has over fifteen years’ experience in American Healthcare Facilities; Skilled in Infection Prevention & Control Program Development & Management, staff training & competencies, Health Care Quality Improvement, and Patient Safety, National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) infection surveillance and data validation, Environmental Hygiene, High Level Disinfection, Sterilization, Injection Safety, Medication Management, Outbreak Investigation, Clinical Education, Policy Creation, and Construction in Healthcare. Areas of expertise include but are not limited to acute care hospitals, lifelong health, home health, Hospice, programs of all-inclusive care for the elderly (PACE), ambulatory settings, rehabilitation centers, cancer transfusion centers, psychiatric units, and inpatient/outpatient dialysis.
Dr. Ghonim is an expert in regulatory accreditation such as The Joint Commission, CMS, DNV, and CARF system surveys. Ensures compliance with federal/state regulatory expectations and accrediting organization requirements for multiple facilities in various states. Developer and leader of infection control rounding tools utilized for survey readiness, including internal on-site readiness audits, written reports of non-compliant findings, suggested action plans, and measures of success. Personal onsite and/or remote access with the facility leadership ensuring initial and continuing compliance as directed by Quality Assurance.
Dr. Ghonim sponsors “Zero Harm Event” saving healthcare facilities millions of dollars by achieving and sustaining zero hospital acquired infections, such as catheter associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs), central line associated blood stream infections (CLABSIs), ventilator associated pneumonia (VAP), ventilator associated events (VAEs), Clostridium difficile (C. diff), Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), and Surgical site infections (SSIs). Additionally, she is an author of multiple publications on preventing health care associated infections (HAIs), increasing hand hygiene compliance, reducing immediate use steam sterilization (IUSS) and construction in healthcare facilities.
